Grab, MOVE IT Launch Relief Drive as Drivers Face Crisis

As Habagat wreaks havoc, transport giants step in to save their own

The heavy rains from the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) have turned many roads into rivers, flooded homes, and caused chaos across the country. But in the middle of this storm, two big names—Grab Philippines and MOVE IT—are stepping up in a big way.

On Wednesday, they launched a huge disaster relief and support program to help those most affected—their drivers, delivery riders, merchants, and even regular passengers.

🚗🚴 This is a lifeline for many hardworking Filipinos who rely on their vehicles to earn money, especially during tough times.

💬 “Our hearts go out to everyone who’s suffering from the floods,” said Ronald Roda, the Managing Director of Grab Philippines. “Grab is more than just a service—it’s a community. And now, we’re doing what we can to show up when it matters most.”

💚 What kind of help are they giving?

Grab and MOVE IT restarted their special care programs:
👉 GrabCare and MOVE IT Malasakit — both are focused on helping partners recover after disasters.

Here’s what they’re offering:

🌊 1. Calamity Assistance

If your car or motorcycle was damaged because of the floods or typhoon, Grab will give you a one-time cash grant to help with repairs.

🏥 2. Medical and Hospitalization Support

If a driver or rider was hurt during the bad weather, Grab will help cover hospital and emergency room bills. This is done in partnership with Cocolife, but only in accredited hospitals.

💸 3. Loan Repayment Holiday

For drivers in Metro Manila, Baguio, and Pampanga—some of the hardest-hit areas—Grab is pausing loan payments for a while. This gives them a break from financial stress while they recover.

👷‍♂️ Relief Drives and Clean-Up Missions Underway

But the support doesn’t stop there.

Grab has started working closely with mayors, local officials, and national agencies to plan relief operations and clean-up drives. This means you might soon see Grab teams handing out food, cleaning streets, and helping bring normal life back to flood-hit areas.

They’re also watching the situation closely, ready to adjust and improve their help depending on how things go in the next few days.

❤️ Even Customers Can Help

Through the GrabBayanihan program, regular Grab users can turn their GrabRewards points into donations.

✨ These donations go to support:

  • 🍔 McDonald’s Kindness Kitchen (which gives hot meals to evacuees)

  • 👧 World Vision (which helps kids and families in need)

And let’s not forget: during earlier floods, Grab even donated rubber boats and hot meals to help the people of Marikina, one of the worst-hit places in Metro Manila.

🚨 Right now, while the country faces flooded streets and broken homes, Grab and MOVE IT are proving that big companies can have big hearts too.

They’re not just offering rides—they’re delivering hope.
