MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Transportation (DOTr) on Saturday announced the postponement of the launch of Student Beep Cards, which was originally scheduled for Sept. 15, 2025.
In a statement, the agency said the system needed recalibration following an initial assessment to ensure a smoother application process for students applying for the new white beep cards.
“We just need to recalibrate the system based on our initial assessment to make sure there will be no problems in student applications,” the DOTr said.
The agency apologized for the delay and assured the public that the issues would be resolved within the month.
While the launch is on hold, the 50-percent fare discount for students on trains will continue through single-journey tickets. Senior citizens and persons with disabilities (PWDs) may still use their existing white beep cards to avail of their discounts.
The DOTr urged commuters to await further announcements.
