Government agencies converge to protect OFWs
OFWs are the corner stone of what the Philippines is today and with more and more officials realizing this, seven official government agencies have converged to medically provide assistance to many OFWs who don’t have medical insurance when working in other countries. This signifies the Philippines furthering its position on social care not only treating its people at home but also abroad.
Seven Government agencies ranging from the Department of Health (DOH), the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), and the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD). These agencies convened in Pasay City to sign the Joint Memorandum Circular on Medical Repatriation.
Leading government officials were present. The Undersecretary of the Department of Social Welfare and Development, with the
Labour Secretary Rosalinda Baldoz adding; ‘The issuance of this joint manual is another important milestone in our continuing pursuit of programme and service improvement for our overseas Filipinos’.
