In the heart of Dubai’s fast-moving world lives a Filipino whose journey reminds us that dreams don’t come easy — but they do come true.
At just 15 years old, Dennis Alejandria lost his father.
Life didn’t give him time to grieve — he had to work.
He became a janitor, a fast-food helper, anything that would help him finish school and support his family. Now, decades later, he stands proud as an HR Manager for a UK-based oil and gas company in the UAE.
But behind his success lies a path filled with sacrifice.
🌍 A New Country, A New Battle
Dennis arrived in the UAE back in 2007, holding only a visit visa and hope — thanks to his wife, Pearly, who helped him take the leap.
His first job?
Not an office role.
Not a managerial position.
He worked as a storekeeper and forklift driver.
And the desert heat didn’t welcome him kindly.
It was too much to handle — he fell sick during his first week.
Yet, Dennis reminded himself:
“It’s what you make of it.”
He carried on.
💪 A Life Shaped by Sacrifice
Growing up as the fourth of eight siblings, Dennis often lived with relatives — working in exchange for food, shelter, and a chance at education.
He shares the words that kept him going all these years:
“My life journey is one beautiful struggle.
My sacrifices and determination shaped who I am today.
Poverty is never a barrier to achieving your dreams.”
His heart never hardened.
Instead, it grew more grateful.
❤️ Serving Others, Even While Working Hard
After years of perseverance, Dennis climbed the professional ladder — from secretary to HR manager in just 13 years.
Today, he lives in Ajman, and despite his demanding career, he stays active in the Filipino community — overflowing with compassion and purpose.
“Service to the community is in my heart.
Gratitude keeps me going.
I want to be remembered for helping.”
He believes:
“No rich person has everything;
No poor person has nothing to give.”
Dennis has received over 15 awards for community service — including helping a Filipino mother and her young child get back home in 2018.
✨ A Reminder for Every Dreamer
From holding a broom to holding a leadership role, Dennis proves one timeless truth:
Where you begin does not decide where you finish.
His story is a message for every Filipino chasing a dream abroad:
Work hard. Stay humble. Give back.
And someday… your beautiful struggle will become your greatest triumph.
