Freddie Aguilar’s Cause of Death Revealed by Ex-Partner

Freddie Aguilar, one of the most famous Filipino singers and songwriters, has sadly passed away. He was 72 years old.

What Happened to Freddie Aguilar?

Freddie died because of multiple organ failure. This means that several important parts of his body—like his heart, kidneys, or lungs—stopped working properly.

His former partner, Josephine Quiepo, shared the news. Josephine is also the mother of one of his children, Maegan Aguilar, who is also a singer. Josephine told this news to talk show host Boy Abunda, and it was announced on the show “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda”.

Boy Abunda said on TV:

“The OPM icon Freddie Aguilar has passed away at 72. This was confirmed by his ex-partner and Maegan Aguilar’s mother, Josephine. She said that Ka Freddie died last night at the Philippine Heart Center due to multiple organ failure.”

Who Else Confirmed It?

Another person who confirmed the news was Atty. George Briones, the top lawyer for the Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP). Freddie Aguilar used to work for that group as the national executive vice president.

His Family Was With Him

Freddie’s wife, Jovie Albao, had been updating people online while Freddie was in the hospital. She thanked everyone who sent prayers and checked on their condition.

Freddie leaves behind Jovie, as well as four children from his previous marriage:

  • Maegan

  • Jonan

  • Isabella

  • Jeriko

Why Was Freddie Aguilar Famous?

Freddie Aguilar was a huge part of OPM (Original Pilipino Music). He’s best known for his world-famous song “Anak”. That song became popular in many countries and was even translated into different languages.

🎵 “Mindanao”
🎵 “Katarungan”
🎵 “Magdalena”

Freddie used his music to tell stories about real life, people’s struggles, and the country.


Even though Freddie Aguilar is no longer with us, his music and his message will always live on. He will always be remembered as a legend in Filipino music.
