MANILA, Philippines — A new survey shows that more than half of the people in the Philippines are happy with how the Philippine Senate is doing its work.
The survey, done by a group called Pulse Asia in June 2025, asked many Filipinos all over the country what they think about the Senate’s job.
They found out that 53 out of every 100 people said they like how the Senate is performing. This is higher than before — back in March, only 45 out of 100 people felt this way. That means more people are starting to trust and like what the Senate is doing.
The survey also said fewer people are unsure about how to feel. Before, 34 out of 100 people didn’t know what to think, but now only 28 out of 100 are unsure. Also, fewer people are unhappy with the Senate — the number dropped from 21 out of 100 to just 18 out of 100.
People from different parts of the Philippines gave good scores too. In the big cities around Manila (called the National Capital Region), 64 out of 100 liked the Senate. In the Visayas islands, 64 out of 100 liked it, and in Mindanao, 52 out of 100 people approved of the Senate’s work.
Even when looking at groups based on how much money people earn, the approval went up. Among richer and middle-class people (called Class ABC), approval went from 37 out of 100 to 46 out of 100. Among those with less money (Class D), it went from 45 out of 100 to 55 out of 100. And among the poorest group (Class E), approval rose from 46 out of 100 to 54 out of 100.
The Senate’s leader, President Francis Escudero, helped make a lot of new laws this year. During the third regular session of the 19th Congress, they passed 216 new laws! That is almost three times more than the 73 laws passed in the first two sessions combined.
They also made 96 new bills ready for the President’s approval, which is more than four times the 23 bills made in the first two sessions.
Another way to see how busy the Senate was is by looking at how many bills they approved on the third reading — a step needed for a bill to become law. This number jumped from 14 bills in the first two sessions to 42 bills in the last session.
The 19th Congress finished its work on June 11, 2025. Now, everyone is getting ready for the 20th Congress, which will start its first regular session on July 28.
This survey shows that many Filipinos are feeling more confident and happy with the Senate’s work, especially because they are passing lots of important laws.
