Filipina Recognized Worldwide with 2025 Freddie Webster RN Nursing Award

A Filipino nurse has once again made the Philippines proud.

Ruby Renconada Soriano, MSN, RN, based in Jacksonville, Florida, has been named the recipient of the 2025 Freddie Webster RN Award for Nursing Excellence, one of the most respected honors in oncology nursing.

The award, announced by the non-profit organization WeCareJax, recognized Ruby’s exceptional work as an oncology nurse navigator at The Jacoby Breast Center at Mayo Clinic.

With over a decade of experience in oncology nursing, patient navigation, and clinical program management, Ruby has been described as “dedicated to guiding and advocating for patients throughout their cancer journey.”

Her leadership, the announcement noted, has been “vital in advancing patient-centered care, program development, and healthcare quality,” highlighting her unwavering compassion and expertise.

Ruby previously served at Ascension St. Vincent’s Hospital in Jacksonville. She humbly said the honor reflects not just her efforts but also the commitment of her former team in serving vulnerable communities.

WeCareJax, the Florida-based network of volunteer medical professionals, hospitals, and community clinics, connects 1,700 to 2,000 patients with medical care each year, making Ruby’s achievement even more meaningful.

Her recognition is more than a personal triumph—it is a testament to the enduring impact of Filipino nurses in the United States, professionals who continue to elevate global healthcare with skill, heart, and an unrelenting commitment to patient care.
