Explore Central Asia, Antarctica at Davao Expo

DAVAO CITY — The world just felt a little closer.

On Friday, the 16th Davao Mega Travel Sale officially opened at Ayala Malls Abreeza — and with it, a wave of excitement, wanderlust, and possibility.

Forty exhibitors filled the venue. Airlines. Hotels. Resorts. Travel agencies.

But this year, something feels different.

Bigger.

Bolder.

Because beyond the usual beach getaways and city breaks, the expo is offering journeys few Filipinos ever imagine — Central Asia and even the Antarctic Peninsula.

Yes. Antarctica.

Beyond Borders, Beyond Expectations

Discounted travel packages are now available to the cultural heartlands of Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, and Tajikistan — destinations rich in history, ancient trade routes, and breathtaking landscapes.

Places once seen only in documentaries.

Now, suddenly within reach.

And then there’s Antarctica — the icy frontier at the edge of the world. Vast. Untouched. Almost mythical.

It’s not just a trip.

It’s a once-in-a-lifetime story waiting to happen.

“Diversity Is Our Beauty”

Department of Tourism-Davao Regional Director Tanya Rabat-Tan reminded everyone that the event is about more than just seat sales.

It’s about discovery.

It’s about learning.

It’s about expanding horizons — from local tourism circuits to global adventures.

“We say that diversity is our beauty here in the Davao Region,” Tan said.

“And today, that beauty expands to the rest of the world.”

Her message was clear: Davao is not just a gateway to Mindanao’s treasures.

It’s becoming a gateway to the globe.

The World Is Waiting

Tan encouraged travelers to seize the moment.

“The expert advice is ready, the seat sales are live and the world is waiting,” she said.

“Gear up, say yes, and let your next great adventure begin.”

It felt less like a speech — and more like a call.

A call to dream bigger.

To book that ticket.

To finally go.

More Than Just Travel

Davao City 3rd District Councilor Myrna Ortiz, chairperson of the Committee on Tourism, praised the Davao Travel Agencies Association for continuing to create opportunities that strengthen the city’s tourism industry.

Because events like this do more than sell destinations.

They energize the local economy.
They create jobs.
They position Davao as a dynamic hub for travel and business.

They connect people — not just to places, but to possibilities.

The expo runs until March 1.

So if you’ve ever dreamed of walking along ancient Silk Road cities…

Or standing before glaciers at the edge of the Earth…

The opportunity might be closer than you think.

Right here in Davao.

And the world is waiting.
