Ex-POGO Worker Caught as 8 Pinoys Saved from Trafficking

A former worker from a POGO company (that’s short for Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators) was caught at the airport for doing something very wrong — tricking people into becoming scammers in another country.

According to the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW), the suspect was arrested on Sunday, July 13 at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA). He was trying to send eight Filipinos to Cambodia — but not for real jobs. These innocent people were going to be used as online scammers!

🧑‍💼 Who Is This Man and What Was He Doing?

The man used to work for a POGO company. His former boss, a Chinese national, gave him a terrible task — to trick other Filipinos into going abroad with fake job offers.
Here’s what he did:

  • He arranged fake documents for the victims.

  • He first told them they would go to Vietnam, but the real destination was Cambodia.

  • Once in Cambodia, they would be forced to work as scammers in illegal online operations.

This was already the third group of people he was about to send out!

💸 Paid in Cryptocurrency

Authorities discovered that the man was getting paid through cryptocurrency — a type of digital money that’s hard to trace — for every person he successfully tricked into leaving the country.

🚨 He’s in Big Trouble Now

The man is now facing serious charges, including:

  • Illegal recruitment

  • Human trafficking

The police are still looking into the case to find out if he had other helpers or if there are more victims.

🙋‍♀️ Help for Victims

The Migrant Workers Protection Bureau, which is part of the DMW, is asking any other victims of this trafficking scheme to report what happened through their official Facebook page.
They promised to give legal help and protection to all who come forward.

👮‍♂️ Good News: 8 Pinoys Were Saved

Thanks to the fast work of the authorities, eight Filipinos were rescued just before they were flown out of the country. Their lives could have been ruined, but now they are safe and getting help.

✈️ Be Careful: Not All Job Offers Are Real

This story is a strong reminder to all Filipinos:
If someone offers you a job abroad, always check first with the Department of Migrant Workers.
Some offers sound exciting but are actually traps.
