Emong Slams Into Pangasinan, Heavy Rains Pound Towns

Last night, something big happened in the sky over Northern Luzon.

At 10:40 p.m., Typhoon Emong—a very strong storm—hit land in a town called Agno in Pangasinan, a province in the northern part of the Philippines.

🌪️ What does that mean?
It means Emong moved from the ocean and touched land, bringing along very strong winds, heavy rain, and loud thunder.

Pagasa, the weather experts in the Philippines, said this was just the beginning. After hitting Agno, Emong is expected to travel across the mountains of Northern Luzon—that includes provinces like La Union, Ilocos Sur, and Abra.

The storm will move northeast, which means it might go near places like the Babuyan Islands and even pass close to Batanes.

🌧️ Where is the storm strongest right now?

Pagasa gave storm warning signals, which help people know how strong the typhoon is in their area:

🔴 Signal No. 4 – This means very dangerous winds!
Places like Agno (Pangasinan), western La Union, and parts of Ilocos Sur are in big danger.

🟠 Signal No. 3 – Still very strong winds!
This includes places like the city of Laoag, Batac, parts of Pangasinan, Abra, and some mountain areas.

🟡 Signal No. 2 – Be careful!
Other parts of Luzon like Batanes, Cagayan (including Babuyan Islands), Isabela, and Nueva Vizcaya are still at risk.

🟢 Signal No. 1 – Less strong but still watch out!
Places like Pampanga, Bataan, Zambales, Tarlac, and Aurora are being warned to stay alert too.

💨 How strong is Emong?

  • Winds: 120 kilometers per hour (that’s really fast!)

  • Wind gusts: Up to 150 kilometers per hour

Pagasa says Emong might stay strong when it hits land again—maybe in La Union or Ilocos Sur—but might get a little weaker once it crosses the big mountains.

🚨 What should we do?

  • Stay indoors

  • Charge your phones

  • Prepare food and water

  • Avoid going outside if it’s raining or windy

Typhoon Emong is strong, but if we stay safe and alert, we can all get through this together.

Remember: Typhoons are part of life in the Philippines, but being prepared makes a big difference! Stay safe, everyone! 🌬️⛈️🌧️
