FORMER president Rodrigo Duterte is worried about reports of massive corruption in the Philippines, Vice President Sara Duterte told Filipinos in Tokyo on Saturday.
“He got worried about events in the Philippines, about corruption,” Duterte said in her speech
She said her father called on Friday. “He did not like the news of what was happening in the Philippines,” she said.
The elder Duterte is detained in The Hague on charges of crimes against humanity committed during his campaign against drugs.
Last March, he was brought to the Netherlands after his arrest in Manila based on a warrant from The Hague-based International Criminal Court (ICC), which had investigated him in connection with the drug war that was implemented during his presidency.
The vice president said that her sister, Veronica, compiles a daily report for their father.
“She writes what is happening, what is on the news, what is happening to the family, and she sends it to the lawyer, and the lawyer, in turn, shows it to former president Rodrigo Duterte,” she said.
