President Rodrigo Duterte will meet with Metro Manila’s water regulator tonight to discuss the water crisis, his spokesperson said on Tuesday.

Presidential spokesperson Salvador Panelo said officials from the Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System (MWSS) may be asked for an update regarding his directive last week to release 150 days worth of water from Angat Dam in Bulacan.

MWSS Administrator Reynaldo Velasco and Chief Regulator Patrick Ty have faced lawmakers from the House and Senate to explain the water crisis affecting 1.2 million Manila Water customers in Metro Manila and Rizal.

Manila Water said it has improved its water supply in 90 percent of its service areas, but rationed water supply will last until the end of May.
