DTI Sets Deadline: Online Sellers Must Get Trustmark by September

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) is tightening its rules to protect Filipino consumers. Online sellers now have until the end of September 2025 to register their products for the E-Commerce Philippine Trustmark—a seal that guarantees items sold online have passed quality and safety checks.

Trade Secretary Maria Cristina Roque explained that the initiative, launched just a month ago, is rooted in the principles of the Consumer Act of the Philippines. The Trustmark aims to guide shoppers toward products that are safe and reliable, giving them more confidence when buying online.

“If a seller has the Trustmark, consumers can feel assured that the product has already passed DTI checks,” Roque said. “If there’s no Trustmark, then it’s up to the buyers to decide.”

The DTI has already begun coordinating with e-commerce platforms to register their sellers, especially after receiving numerous complaints about substandard and unchecked products being sold online.

Roque stressed that this move is meant to shield consumers from unsafe goods, particularly appliances and other items that sometimes slip past quality inspections.

“Actually, all products sold in e-commerce platforms should pass through the DTI. That’s why sometimes substandard appliances still manage to slip through,” she explained.

With the September deadline fast approaching, the DTI is urging sellers to comply—reminding them that the Trustmark is more than just a seal. It’s a promise of safety, quality, and consumer protection.
