DSWD on high alert as Super Typhoon Nando nears Luzon

MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has placed all its disaster response offices nationwide on high alert as Super Typhoon Nando intensified.

Assistant Secretary Irene Dumlao said the directive ensures preparedness for Signal No. 5 conditions, with food, non-food items, and evacuation centers ready.

“This is to make sure that all food and non-food items are prepared, as well as evacuation centers for our countrymen who may be displaced by ‘Nando’,” Dumlao said.

The DSWD assured the public that quick response teams are on standby and they are in coordination with local government units.
