MANILA, Philippines — Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla said Friday the Department of Justice (DOJ) was preparing possible plunder and malversation charges against those linked to anomalous government flood control projects.
Remulla told reporters the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) has been directed to pursue the probe, citing initial findings pointing to “ghost projects.”
“We are studying if plunder charges can be filed. Malversation is also likely as the investigation moves forward,” Remulla said at the DOJ.
He added that cases were expected to be filed soon following the NBI’s submission of its findings.
