DOJ Confirms Sara Duterte Not Being Named Terrorist Despite Threats

The Department of Justice (DOJ) clarified that Vice President Sara Duterte has not been labeled as a terrorist, even though she made a controversial statement about President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. In her remarks, she mentioned a “kill order” if something were to happen to her, which sparked an investigation.

Justice Undersecretary Jesse Andres explained that while Duterte is not a terrorist, her words are being investigated because they could be seen as a threat. The DOJ has issued a subpoena to give her a chance to explain her statements.

Duterte responded by claiming that the investigation was an attempt to access her properties and assets. She also compared herself to another politician, Arnie Teves, who was labeled a terrorist for his involvement in various crimes.

The DOJ emphasized that making threats, even if not acted upon, is still a punishable offense under the Anti-Terrorism Law. Duterte, however, denied that her words were a real threat, saying they were taken out of context.

The investigation is still ongoing, with the DOJ assuring that due process will be followed.
