DOH logs 1,523 new COVID-19 cases; active tally increases to 15,593

The Department of Health on Wednesday logged 1,523 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the Philippines’ total to 4,131,790.

Active cases increased by 270 to 15,593 for the second straight day of more than 15,000 active cases and after four straight days of decreasing active cases, according to GMA Integrated News Research.

Total recoveries increased by 1,253 to 4,049,731, while the death toll remains at 66,466.

The region with the most new COVID-19 cases in the last 14 days is the National Capital Region with 9,572, followed by Calabarzon with 5,622; Central Luzon with 2,144; Western Visayas with 1,494; and the Bicol Region with 894.

Among cities and provinces, Quezon City had the most new cases in the last 14 days with 2,283, followed by Cavite province with 1,782; Rizal province with 1,472; Laguna province with 1,252, and Bulacan province with 1,067.

COVID-19 bed occupancy is at 22.2% with 5,680 occupied and 19,926 vacant. Among the occupied beds, 2,589 are in the ICU. — BM, GMA Integrated News
