DMW, HK Police Join Forces to Find Missing OFWs

The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) is working closely with authorities in Hong Kong to locate two missing Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) who disappeared earlier this month.

In a statement released Wednesday, the DMW said it has been coordinating with the Philippine Consulate General, the Hong Kong Police Force, and the Hong Kong Immigration Department in the ongoing search for Imee Mahilum Pabuaya, 23, and Aleli Perez Tibay, 33.

“We continue to coordinate with local authorities to ensure their safety and to locate them immediately,” the agency said.

The two Filipinas were last seen on October 4 in Tsuen Wan District, a bustling area in Hong Kong. Their disappearance has caused deep concern among their families and fellow OFWs.

The DMW assured that they are ready to provide legal, medical, emergency, or financial assistance to the families of the missing workers as the search continues.

In a heartfelt message, the agency urged the public to come forward with any information that could help bring Imee and Aleli home.

“Amid these worries, we hold on to hope. You are not alone,” the statement read.
“The DMW, the government, and the Filipino people stand with you in prayer and action for their safe return.”

The incident has once again shed light on the challenges and risks faced by Filipinos working abroad — and the shared hope that no family should ever have to wait in fear for news of their loved ones.
