The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) has raised the alarm.
This time, the warning is urgent — and personal.
On Tuesday, the agency revealed that scammers are pretending to be Migrant Workers Secretary Hans Leo Cacdac, sending fake emails that offer supposed job opportunities abroad.
For many Filipinos dreaming of working overseas, that kind of message can feel like hope.
But the DMW says — stop. Look closer.
In a Facebook post, the agency shared a screenshot of one such email. The sender posed as Secretary Cacdac, claiming to provide updates to an aspiring overseas Filipino worker (OFW).
It looked official.
It sounded convincing.
But it was fake.
The DMW clarified that the email address “cascdacdmw.gov.ph@gmail.com” is not the official email of Secretary Cacdac. It is unauthorized. And it should be ignored.
“Ang pekeng account na ito ay maaaring makapagdulot ng kalituhan at maling impormasyon sa ating mga OFWs at kanilang pamilya,” the agency warned.
A fake account like this doesn’t just spread misinformation.
It plays with people’s plans.
Their savings.
Their future.
The DMW stressed that the account is not authorized to advertise jobs abroad or process employment documents.
In short — it has no power, no authority, and no connection to the agency.
The department is now urging the public to be vigilant. If you encounter suspicious job offers through email or social media, report them immediately — especially to the DMW.
“Huwag rin basta makipag-ugnayan sa mga unverified entities upang hindi mabiktima ng SCAM,” the agency reminded.
Do not engage.
Do not send money.
Do not share personal information.
For many OFWs and their families, working abroad represents sacrifice and hope — a chance for a better life. Scammers know this. And they exploit it.
That’s why the DMW is calling on everyone to double-check before believing any online job offer.
For verified announcements and official information, aspiring OFWs are advised to visit the DMW’s official Facebook page (facebook.com/dmw.gov.ph) and website (dmw.gov.ph).
Those who need immediate assistance may contact the DMW Public Assistance Desk at (02) 8722-1144 and (02) 8722-1155.
In a digital world where scams spread fast, vigilance is protection.
And when it comes to your future abroad — trust only what’s official.
