Something exciting is happening in Batac City! From May 1 to May 4, 2025, the city will have a four-day festival to celebrate how smart and creative farmers are! And guess what? This year’s festival is even more fun than before!
🛷 What’s New This Year?
Farmers will show off their skills by making something called a “pasagad” (a kind of wooden sled). Long ago, before machines helped on farms, farmers used these sleds to carry fruits, vegetables, and other crops. These are made by hand using native or indigenous materials like wood and rope!
🎩 Hat-Making Contest!
There will also be a contest where people will make hats using native materials like bamboo or straw. These hats are handmade too — and it shows how great farmers are at weaving things.
🍜 Yummy Noodles, Called Miki!
Farmers’ wives and women from the city’s Rural Improvement Clubs will have a fun cooking contest where they make “miki” — special noodles that many visitors love. People can go to the riverside food hub across the Imelda Cultural Center to taste some!
🚜 Big Float Parade!
On May 3, there will be a Grand Parade of Floats made by different farming villages. The floats will be big, colorful, and based on the theme:
👉 “Sweet Success, Empowering Community” (which means working together brings great things!).
💃 Dance Showdown and Prizes!
On May 4, farmer groups will compete in a dance showdown to show off their moves and celebrate their teamwork. There will also be a raffle draw and awesome prizes for contest winners!
👨🌾👩🌾 This festival is a way to say “Thank you!” to our hardworking farmers — showing everyone that farmers are not just hard workers, they are also smart, creative, and full of talent!
