Dengue Cases Spike Fast — DOH Sounds the Alarm!

MANILA, Philippines — Uh-oh! The Department of Health (DOH) just gave a scary update: more and more people are getting sick with Dengue! 😟

Because of all the rain and flooding lately, there are now lots of mosquitoes flying around — and some of them can make people very sick. These mosquitoes carry something called Dengue virus, and if they bite you, you could get a high fever, really bad headaches, and red spots on your skin.

The DOH looked at how many people got Dengue in two weeks. Between June 1 to 14, about 8,233 people got sick. But from June 15 to 28, it went up to 10,733 people! That’s over 2,000 more people in just two weeks! 😨

So now, the DOH is telling everyone to help stop mosquitoes from growing by remembering the “4Ts”:

  • Taob — Turn over buckets, bottles, or anything that holds water

  • Taktak — Shake out water from old tires, flower pots, or vases

  • Tuyo — Make sure everything is dry and not wet

  • Takip — Cover all containers that hold water

Even small puddles or water in bottle caps can be a home for mosquito babies! 🦟

The DOH is working hard to protect everyone, but they need your help too! So make sure you and your family clean up around your home and school to keep mosquitoes away.

Let’s all stay safe and fight Dengue together! 💪✨
