Croatia Faces Tourist Surge as Record Arrivals Shake 2025

Croatia, a small but beautiful country in Europe famous for its beaches and historic towns, is experiencing a tourism explosion in 2025.

Tourism Minister Tonci Glavina proudly announced that from January to August 20, 2025, Croatia welcomed 15.5 million tourists. These visitors stayed a total of 79.2 million nights in hotels, resorts, and vacation rentals. That’s 1% more than the same period last year, making 2025 a record-breaking year for Croatia.

Glavina explained that this year is not only about more visitors but also more spending. Tourists have been shopping, eating out, booking tours, and enjoying Croatia’s attractions like never before. In fact, spending jumped 10.4% compared to 2024, according to government fiscal records.

The Croatian National Bank also predicted that revenues from foreign tourists could reach €15.5 billion ($18.01 billion) by the end of the year, a 3.6% increase from last year.

Why is this important? Because tourism makes up 20% of Croatia’s economy. That means 1 out of every 5 euros the country earns comes from travelers. When tourists spend more, businesses thrive—from hotels and restaurants to local shops and taxi drivers.

But Croatia doesn’t just want to shine in the summer. Officials are now working hard to make the country a year-round destination. They hope that visitors will come not only for the sunny beaches in July and August, but also for winter skiing, spring festivals, and cultural tours in other months.

With record arrivals, record overnight stays, and record spending, 2025 is shaping up to be a golden year for Croatian tourism, showing how the country continues to rise as one of Europe’s top travel hotspots.
