MANILA, Philippines — Ako Bicol Party-list Rep. Elizaldy Co should return to the Philippines and face the allegations levelled against him, House Majority Leader and Ilocos Norte Rep. Ferdinand Alexander Marcos said Wednesday.
“He should come home and answer allegations against him,” Marcos told reporters after voting for Isabela Rep. Faustino “Bojie” Dy 3rd as House speaker.
Co, who is in the US for medical reasons, has been tagged as the lawmaker who proposed insertions in the 2025 budget that would benefit his districts.
Marcos believes that the “severe” allegations against Co has dragged the House of Representatives “through the mud.”
The young lawmaker said that institutional change is needed to make the House worthy of the people’s respect.
“These reforms must be institutional, and these reforms will not happen overnight, If that is the image of the House currently then that is the responsibility of the House to change its image through the reforms that we seek,” Marcos said.
