MANILA, Philippines – Ako Bicol Partylist Rep. Elizaldy Co broke his silence to deny allegations that he pocketed billions of pesos in the flood control projects of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) following a testimony on Tuesday by a former DPWH official before the Semate Blue Ribbon Committee that he was one of several lawmakers who received kickbacks.
Co was tagged by dismissed Bulacan district engineer Henry Alcantara as one of the lawmakers who benefited from the flood control projects.
“The allegations made against me during today’s Senate hearing are false and baseless,” said Co who is in the US for medical treatment.
He further stated that he reserved the right “to respond to these allegations at the proper time before the proper forum,”
Speaker Faustino Dy 3rd revoked Co’s travel authority last Sept. 19 and urged him to come back to the Philippines to answer the allegations against him.
