MANILA, Philippines — Office of the Civil Defense (OCD) spokesman Junie Castillo turned emotional over the impact of the anomalous flood control projects on Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) workers as such constructions since properly built infrastructure could have eased their job much less, lessen the dangers they face during response operations.
“As DRRM workers from the national to the local, it hurts that these projects na should have helped our work instead are being used by a few for their own gain,” Castillo said Monday.
“What’s difficult here is that the lives of DRRM workers are being endangered and put at risk just to respond to our distressed countrymen,” he said.
