Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray does not mince words as she criticised the shutdown of the Philippines’ giant television and radio network, ABS-CBN.
The beauty queen shared a red, green, and blue ribbon symbolising unity with the said station and wrote, “As we face this global pandemic as a nation, fast and accessible information is key to saving lives. By silencing voices we’re doing a disservice to our countrymen who need it most.”
“At a time in our history when we should be remembered for how we all came together to serve each other. When we look back, what will be remembered instead?” she added.
While some praised Gray for her statement, others suggest that she remove the said post and refrain from being political.
One netizen commented, “I do feel bad for the talents and employees of ABS-CBN however there are valid reasons why they were shut down. I feel that ABS-CBN a management team is responsible for this and letting this issue or problem get this far. They should have taken care of business as soon as soon as possible. But that’s just my two cents.”
