The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) is taking a major step to modernize airports and aviation facilities nationwide. The agency has partnered with PLDT Enterprise to boost digital connectivity in its facilities, aiming to improve both operations and passenger experience.
CAAP spokesperson Eric Apolonio told the Philippine News Agency that the partnership will enhance digital infrastructure in at least 14 of the 44 CAAP-operated airports. Key facilities, including the Civil Aviation Training Center and the Philippine Air Traffic Management Center in Pasay City, will also see upgraded connectivity.
Blums Pineda, head of PLDT and Smart’s Enterprise Business Group, said, “Our commitment is to bring reliable, secure, and efficient digital infrastructure that aligns with CAAP’s vision of becoming a global brand of excellence in civil aviation.”
The upgrades are not just about faster Internet—they aim to transform the travel experience. Airports in Tuguegarao, Bicol, Puerto Princesa, Laoag, Bacolod, Silay, Tacloban, Kalibo, Zamboanga, Davao, General Santos, Laguindingan, and Pagadian will benefit from advanced network systems, fiber optic connections, and structured connectivity.
With these improvements, airport operations can run more safely and efficiently. PLDT Enterprise said the initiative will include network distribution equipment, cable infrastructure, and a unified front-end tool to make it easier for users to access the service.
CAAP Director General Raul Del Rosario emphasized the importance of the project: “By strengthening our digital infrastructure, we are enhancing operational efficiency and elevating the overall passenger experience to meet global standards.”
This partnership marks a significant step toward modern, world-class airports in the Philippines, ensuring travelers enjoy seamless connectivity while supporting growing passenger traffic and operational demands.
