MANILA — Travelers passing through Bohol-Panglao International Airport (BPIA) and Laguindingan International Airport (LIA) now have a smoother, safer, and more enjoyable airport experience.
Aboitiz InfraCapital, Inc. (AIC), the operator managing the two airports since June (BPIA) and April (LIA), announced the completion of key upgrades and preventive maintenance projects.
Elevators were repaired to ensure easier access for senior citizens, persons with disabilities, and families traveling with children. Baggage carousels were serviced to allow quicker claiming and shorter waiting times at arrivals.
“These improvements reflect our shared commitment with the government to make every AIC airport experience safer, more efficient, and more enjoyable for our travelers,” said AIC CEO Cosette Canilao.
Power reliability was also addressed. Assessments of uninterruptible power supply systems were completed to ensure sustained operations during outages. Additional maintenance was done for passenger boarding bridges and baggage weighing scales at BPIA.
“We are ensuring that BPIA and LIA remain reliable gateways that connect communities, boost local economies, and strengthen our country’s aviation network,” Canilao added.
These upgrades are part of a public-private partnership strategy to modernize provincial airports. According to AIC, the collaboration accelerates delivery of better facilities and services, directly benefiting travelers, airport staff, and host communities.
Looking ahead, travelers can expect further improvements, including terminal restructuring, expansion, and capacity augmentation at both airports.
With these upgrades, BPIA and LIA are now ready to welcome passengers with greater comfort, convenience, and safety, marking a new milestone in Philippine aviation.
