MANILA, Philippines — Malacañang on Monday tagged as a big lie the claim of former Ilocos Sur governor Luis “Chavit” Singson that the masked individuals who caused a ruckus in the anti-corruption rally were paid by groups linked to First Lady Liza Marcos and former House Speaker Martin Romualdez.
“Big lie! They should not pin their criminal activities on First Lady Liza Marcos. Why would she be the one to inflict injuries on police officers to create tension near Malacañang? They should think about it,” Presidential Communications Office (PCO) Undersecretary Claire Castro said in a statement in Filipino.
The Palace official went further by calling Singson “forgettable” and a “Duterte supporter.”
“We should remember that Duterte-supporter Chavit Singson himself called on the youth to stand up and lead the revolution against the government. Who has a history of killing, hurting and destroying the government?” she added.
Castro has called on the Department of Justice (DOJ) and Philippine National Police to investigate Singson for his alleged seditious action of urging the youth to launch a “revolution against corruption.”
