Baha sa Luneta: Massive protest against corruption planned for Sept. 21

VARIOUS groups led by the Artikulo Onse: Citizens’ War Against Corruption (Artikulo Onse-CWAC) and Sanlakas are set to hold their protest rally dubbed “Baha sa Luneta” on Sept. 21, 2025.

“It’s all systems go,” Aaron Pedrosa, Sanlakas secretary-general and Artikulo Onse co-convenor, told a press briefing on Wednesday at a Quezon City restaurant.

Pedrosa said the resignation of House Speaker Martin Romualdez shows how massive and growing public outcry and protest are shaking up the corrupt system.

“We must continue pushing back. Stopping corruption requires prosecuting the corrupt, ending dynasties, and changing the system,” he said.

With other groups and organizations, which have signified to join the mass demonstrations at the Luneta Park in Manila, the organizers said they expect massive crowd participation.

“Sept. 21 marks a gloomy chapter in our history when [Ferdinand] Marcos Sr. placed the country under Martial Law. We reclaim Sept. 21 as a day of national resistance and unity against plunder, corruption and dynasties,” Pedrosa said.

Simultaneous rallies are also set across the country on Sept. 21 with actions happening in Baguio City, Cebu City, Bacolod City, Iloilo City, and Tacloban City, among others, the groups said.
