Another Filipino working far from home… is now behind bars.
This time, in Saudi Arabia.
The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) confirmed the arrest of an overseas Filipino worker (OFW) accused of posting videos of airstrikes on social media.
A simple post…
that may have led to serious consequences.
What makes this more alarming—
this is not an isolated case.
Similar incidents have already been reported in the United Arab Emirates, where two other OFWs were also detained over alleged posts showing missile attacks.
Three Filipinos now facing legal battles… in foreign land.
According to DMW Undersecretary Bernard Olalia, the OFW in Saudi Arabia has already reached out for help.
And help is coming.
“We will help them face their cases,” Olalia assured.
Even while detained…
even while far from home…
the Philippine government says it will stand by them.
Free legal assistance will be provided.
Lawyers will be assigned.
Because no Filipino should have to face this alone.
But there is also a firm reminder—
A warning, especially to Filipinos in the Middle East.
Posting videos of airstrikes…
Sharing sensitive content online…
These may seem harmless.
But in countries like Saudi Arabia and the UAE,
they can be seen as violations of law—
even threats to national security.
The government is clear:
We respect the laws of other nations.
We respect their processes.
But we will also protect our people… every step of the way.
Back in the UAE, support is already in motion.
Families of the detained OFWs have been informed.
Legal aid is ongoing.
Updates continue to be sent.
And as tensions rise in the Middle East—
the Philippine government is acting fast.
A chartered flight has been sent to the UAE,
ready to bring home Filipinos affected by the growing conflict.
Because behind every headline…
is a life.
A family waiting.
A Filipino hoping to come home safe.
