Angel Locsin Speaks Out After Long Silence on Corruption

After months of silence on social media, Angel Locsin has finally spoken up—this time against corruption in the Philippines.

The “Darna” star took to Instagram Stories on September 21, in time with the massive rallies in Metro Manila and across the country. Her words were filled with both pain and fire.

“To all Filipinos fighting corruption – may God give you more strength to keep going,” she began.

Remembering the Flood Victims

Angel admitted she has been quietly following the Senate and Congress investigations into corruption in flood control projects. The hearings reminded her of heartbreaking stories she once read—families who lost their homes, breadwinners who lost jobs, and lives taken by floods and typhoons.

Her emotions spilled over in her post:
“Naiiyak ako sa galit kasi pwede pa lang hindi sila naghirap. Pwede pa lang walang nasaktan. Pwede pa lang walang namatay.”

For her, silence was no longer an option.
“Mas nakakapanghina kung mananahimik lang tayo. Kaya we keep speaking, we keep fighting. For justice. For change. No politics. Para sa tao.”

Angel’s Message Spreads Online

On X (formerly Twitter), Angel amplified her message with a striking quote:
“Ang sa amin, galing sa hirap – ang sa inyo, galing sa mahirap.”
She ended with the hashtag #StopTheCorruption.

Her post quickly gained support. Actress Anne Curtis, who joined the “Trillion Peso March” at the EDSA People Power Monument, reshared Angel’s message with pride:
“My girl is back out to raise her voice! Go Mars!”

Celebrities Join the Protest

Thousands of Filipinos showed up at the rallies—“Baha sa Luneta: Aksyon na Laban sa Korapsyon” at Rizal Park and the “Trillion Peso March” at EDSA.

Familiar faces from the entertainment industry stood with the crowd:

  • Anne Curtis, Vice Ganda, Donny Pangilinan, Darren Espanto, Jasmine Curtis-Smith, Ion Perez

  • Catriona Gray, Nicole Cordoves, Andrea Brillantes, Maris Racal

  • Rhian Ramos, Gabbi Garcia, Khalil Ramos, Mika Salamanca

  • Elijah Canlas, Angel Aquino, Jodi Sta. Maria, Tessie Tomas, Marjorie Barretto and Leon Barretto

  • Many more artists, musicians, and personalities

A Voice That Couldn’t Stay Silent

For Angel Locsin, the fight is personal and emotional. She may have been quiet for a long time, but her message is loud and clear now: silence only makes us weaker.

She has returned to the spotlight—not as a celebrity, but as a Filipino speaking from the heart.
