After years of performing in front of millions, Alden Richards is slowly turning toward a quieter, more focused dream—directing.
Fresh from his directorial debut this year, Alden shared that he wants to lean into storytelling even more… but this time, without juggling too many roles at once.
In the second part of his GMA Integrated News interview with Nelson Canlas on “24 Oras” (aired Wednesday), Alden admitted something many artists eventually feel:
He wants to create—but with full attention, full heart, and no distractions.
“Director lang ako.”
Alden’s first film project as a director was “Out of Order.” But he didn’t just direct it—he also acted and produced.
That experience was exciting… but demanding.
Now, he’s craving something different.
A space where he can breathe.
A space where he can watch a scene unfold and think only about one thing: How do I tell this story the best way possible?
“I’d like to do a project na director lang ako,” Alden said, adding that it’s his next priority so he can be completely focused on storytelling—on the characters, the emotions, the details that make a project truly hit home.
And you can feel it when he says it.
This isn’t just a new skill he wants to try.
It sounds like a calling.
His Dream Cast? Dingdong Dantes and Marian Rivera
When asked which artists he wants to direct, Alden didn’t hesitate for long—then he laughed, almost like he couldn’t believe he was saying it out loud.
Dingdong Dantes and Marian Rivera.
The Kapuso Royal Couple.
“Oh my God, baka masyadong ambitious,” he said, before admitting how much he’s always looked up to them.
There was excitement in his voice… but also respect.
Because for Alden, this isn’t just about working with big stars.
It’s about seeing them through a new lens.
Not as friends.
Not as co-actors.
But as a director—watching their talent from the outside, shaping moments, guiding performances, building scenes that stay with people long after the credits roll.
“With Kuya Dong and Yan, I just want to see them in the eyes of a director rather than a friend… Iba rin ’yun,” he shared.
And that line says everything.
Sometimes, admiration isn’t loud.
Sometimes, it’s simply wanting to create something beautiful with the people you respect most.
A Mission Bigger Than Fame
Beyond directing dreams and future projects, Alden also opened up about something deeper—his purpose.
He spoke about success… and how empty it feels when you celebrate it alone.
“There’s no fulfillment with a success that’s being celebrated by just one person,” he said.
What matters more to him now is inspiring others, sharing what he’s gained, and being a platform that makes people feel like their lives are getting better—little by little—through the things he does.
It wasn’t a rehearsed statement.
It sounded like someone who’s been through pressure, growth, and wins… and realized the real joy isn’t the spotlight.
It’s what you do with it.
15 Years In—and Still Moving Forward
Alden is celebrating his 15th year in showbiz, and the milestone won’t pass quietly.
He’s set to hold his fan meet, “ARXV: Moving ForwARd,” at the City of Santa Rosa Laguna Multi-Purpose Complex on December 13—a moment for the fans who’ve walked with him through every era, every reinvention.
And as his career continues to expand internationally, “Out of Order” is also making waves.
The film premiered at the competition section of the third Da Nang Asian Film Festival in Vietnam (June) and later screened at the 2025 Jagran Film Festival in India (September).
The Feeling You Can’t Ignore
Alden Richards isn’t slowing down.
He’s evolving.
From actor… to storyteller.
From being the face on screen… to becoming the mind behind it.
And if this is what he’s dreaming of now—directing Dingdong and Marian, creating stories that lift people up—then one thing is clear:
He’s not just moving forward.
He’s moving forward with purpose.
