The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has already given out honoraria to 7.6% of teachers who served as Board of Election Inspectors (BEIs).

During a press briefing on Monday (May 20), Comelec Spokesperson James Jimenez reported that the distribution of honoraria is going smoothly.

“We have already started the payments of our electoral boards. We have 15 days to complete the payment and I think things are going to go smoothly especially after the Brigada Eskwela which is a factor to be considered here,” he said.

There were 500,000 teachers who served as BEIs in the election.

Based on the Election Service Reform Act (ESRA), the chair of the electoral boards will receive P6,000 while members of the electoral boards P5,000. The Department of Education Supervisor Official (DESO) will receive P4,000 and the support staff will receive P2,000.

They are all also entitled to P1,000 travel allowance.
