A shocking event happened in Hong Kong. Six Filipinos were arrested for pretending to be dentists and running a secret dental clinic, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) confirmed on Wednesday.
đŸ‘‰ These six Filipinos were not real dentists. They were originally working as domestic helpers in Hong Kong.
đŸ‘‰ But authorities said they broke the law by secretly running or joining a business without approval and pretending to be professional dentists.
The group, aged 34 to 60 years old, was caught on August 17.
According to the South China Morning Post, Hong Kong police found them in a hidden apartment in Sham Shui Po. There, they were allegedly running an unlicensed dental clinic. When officers entered, they even saw 13 customers inside at the time of the arrest.
Because of this, the six Filipinos were detained by the Hong Kong Immigration Department for:
-
Breaking their visa conditions by taking jobs they were not allowed to do
-
Starting or joining a business illegally
-
Pretending to be real dentists
The Philippine Consulate and the Migrant Workers Office in Hong Kong are now helping the six arrested workers. The DFA also said they are closely working with Hong Kong authorities while the investigation continues.
This case is still developing, and officials are now trying to find out how long the fake dental clinic had been operating and what punishment the Filipinos might face.
It’s a dramatic story of risk, danger, and lawbreaking—showing how desperate moves can lead to very serious trouble abroad.
