3,604 new COVID-19 cases bring active tally to 25,743
The Philippines on Saturday logged an increase in COVID-19 cases with 3,604 new infections, surpassing the five-month high set on Friday.
The new infections bring the nationwide caseload to 3,748,979, according to the Department of Health’s latest data.
Active cases also increased to 25,743 from 24,478 on Friday, when the daily tally of new infections hit 3,389.
The National Capital Region posted 11,624 new cases in the past two weeks, followed by Calabarzon with 7,104, Central Luzon with 3,272, Western Visayas with 2,397, and Central Visayas with 1,257.
An additional 2,325 patients recovered from the respiratory disease, bringing the country’s recovery tally to 3,662,566.
Meanwhile, 14 new deaths were recorded, raising the death toll to 60,670.
A total of 23,139 individuals were tested on Friday, while 325 testing laboratories submitted data.
The country’s bed occupancy rate stood at 24% as of Friday, while the number of beds occupied was 6,988, while 22,135 beds were vacant. —VBL, GMA News
