Three people who tricked Filipinos with fake jobs were caught and arrested by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) when they returned to the Philippines.
They came back to the country with seven Filipinos who were rescued from Myanmar, where they were forced to do bad things online.
How Did They Trick People?
The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) said the suspects used fake names like:
-
Miss Anne
-
Orange
-
Carlo
-
Bryan
They used social media to look for people who needed jobs.
One victim said they were promised a job as a customer service representative in Thailand with a big salary — $800 to $1,500 a month (that’s around ₱45,000 to ₱84,000!).
But It Was All a Lie…
When the victims got to Thailand, they were not given the jobs they were promised.
Instead, they were secretly taken to Myawaddy, Myanmar — a dangerous place where they were forced to become online scammers. That means they had to trick other people online, even if they didn’t want to.
Later, they found out that the fake recruiters were with them all along, also working in the scam operations.
What Happened to the Bad Guys?
After the NBI finished their investigation, the illegal recruiters were sent to jail at the NBI Detention Facility.
They’re now facing serious charges for their crimes.
Help for the Victims
The DMW is helping the victims by giving:
-
Money help
-
Emotional support
-
A chance to restart their lives in the Philippines
They also said: If you or someone you know has been tricked like this, message the DMW’s official Facebook page (Anti-Illegal Recruitment and Trafficking in Persons Program) — and get free legal help.
Important Reminder!
The DMW warned everyone:
Don’t trust job offers online, especially if the deal sounds too good to be true.
Always double-check and go through official channels to avoid getting tricked by illegal recruiters or human traffickers.
