Philippine showbiz in 2025 was a year that made people pause.
To celebrate.
To cheer.
And, at times, to quietly remember.
In Aubrey Carampel’s “2025 Showbiz Recap,” aired on 24 Oras on Friday, the year unfolded as a mix of milestones, historic collaborations, and heartfelt goodbyes.
One of the biggest highlights was GMA Network’s 75th anniversary—a diamond celebration that brought together Kapuso artists and executives under one roof. It was a moment that looked back on decades of stories, service, and shared memories with the Filipino people.
“We look forward to the next 75 years of being one with the Filipino,” said GMA Network, Inc. President and CEO Gilberto R. Duavit, Jr.
Another television icon reached a major milestone as “Bubble Gang,” the longest-running gag show in Philippine TV, marked its 30th anniversary—three decades of laughter that has spanned generations.
The year also made history in reality television.
As “Pinoy Big Brother” celebrated its 20th year, it launched “Pinoy Big Brother: Celebrity Collab Edition,” a groundbreaking partnership between GMA Network and ABS-CBN. For the first time, Sparkle and Star Magic artists shared one house, one stage, and one unforgettable season.
The collaboration struck a chord with viewers on both television and digital platforms, leading to a follow-up season—“Pinoy Big Brother: Celebrity Collab Edition 2.0,” this time shining the spotlight on Gen Z stars.
Fantasy lovers were also treated to a powerful comeback.
“Encantadia Chronicles: Sang’gre” introduced a new generation of heroes, with Bianca Umali as Terra, Faith Da Silva as Flamarra, Angel Guardian as Deia, and Kelvin Miranda as Adamus.
They were joined by new faces in the magical world—Rhian Ramos as Mitena and Tom Rodriguez as Gargan, the keeper of the black diamond—bringing fresh energy to a beloved epic.
But as new stories were born, the industry also took time to honor those it lost.
2025 became a year of remembrance as Philippine entertainment mourned the passing of legendary artists who helped shape film, music, and television. Among those remembered were Gloria Romero, Nora Aunor, Pilita Corrales, Ricky Davao, and Emman Atienza.
Their voices, performances, and legacies remain—etched in every scene, every song, and every story they left behind.
In 2025, showbiz didn’t just entertain.
It celebrated its roots.
It embraced unity.
And it honored the legends who made it all possible.
