The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) said that 20 more Filipinos are expected to arrive back in the Philippines very soon. They are coming home because of the ongoing tension and fighting between Israel and Iran.
🛫 What’s Happening?
The government is making flight plans so that 20 Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) can fly back home this weekend. This comes after the first group of 31 Filipinos safely returned from Israel on Tuesday, June 24. These OFWs left because of the fighting that began on June 13 between the two countries.
According to Undersecretary Felicitas Bay, a total of 346 Filipinos have already told the government they want to come home from the Middle East.
But not everyone is sure yet.
“Some are thinking twice about returning,” Bay said.
“Right now, 202 Filipinos are unsure if they’ll stay or go.”
Why? Because they heard there might be a ceasefire — or a break from the fighting — and they’re hoping things might get better soon.
🏠 Where Are the OFWs Now?
-
Some have already gone back to their home provinces.
-
Others are staying in safe places provided by the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) while the government helps them arrange the rest of their travel.
💼 What Happens When They’re Home?
The DMW says they won’t be left behind. There are programs waiting for them:
-
Financial help
-
Job opportunities
-
Small business support
These are part of the government’s way to help returning workers start fresh after leaving a dangerous situation.
🕊️ Ceasefire Update
Big news came when US President Donald Trump announced a complete ceasefire between Israel and Iran. This means both sides agreed to stop the fighting — for now.
That’s why some Filipinos who planned to leave are starting to change their minds.
⚠️ Crisis Alert Level 3
The Philippine government raised the alert to Level 3 in both Israel and Iran. This means:
It’s time for Filipinos in those countries to voluntarily come home because the area is no longer safe.
📊 Did you know?
-
Around 30,000 Filipinos (mostly caregivers) are currently in Israel
-
More than 1,000 Filipinos are in Iran
💔 The Big Picture
Many Filipino families are waiting, praying, and hoping that their loved ones can come home safe and soon. The situation in the Middle East is still scary, and the Philippine government is working hard to bring everyone back before it gets worse.
