18-year-old ‘Reyrey’ shot dead in Navotas

An 18-year-old who has the same nickname as the target of the police operation which killed Jemboy Baltazar in August was shot and killed on Friday morning in Navotas City.

According to Jun Veneracion’s report on “24 Oras,” victim John Rey Basie alias Reyrey was found dead on C3 Road.

Investigation showed that he was killed by a bullet that went through the back of the head and exited in his jaw.

Police are looking into the identity of Basie as he had the same alias as the target of the operation that led to the fatal shooting by mistaken identity of of teenager Jemboy Baltazar on August 2.

The police have coordinated with establishments near the crime scene to secure CCTV footage of the shooting incident.

“Pinagaaralan namin. Baka doon binaril o doon din inabutan, at the same time yung teorya rin na doon ibinaba,” Cortes said.
