For 179 overseas Filipino workers, the wait is almost over.
But not quite yet.
Right now, they are in Riyadh—far from home, holding on to hope… and counting the hours until they can finally return to the Philippines.
These are Filipinos from Bahrain and Kuwait—80 from Bahrain, 99 from Kuwait—who chose to come home as tensions continue to rise in the Middle East.
They are tired.
They are uncertain.
But most of all… they just want to go home.
One Flight, One Chance, One Big Moment
This Monday, March 23, they will board a chartered flight back to the Philippines.
And this flight is different.
Historic, even.
For the first time, overseas Filipino workers from four different countries—Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia—will come together on a single repatriation flight.
One plane.
One mission.
To bring Filipinos home safely.
According to the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), this marks a major step in the government’s ongoing rescue efforts amid the regional conflict.
More Than Just Numbers
Behind every number is a story.
A worker who left home to provide.
A parent who missed birthdays.
A son or daughter who endured distance for the sake of family.
Now, all of them share one thing in common—
The journey back.
Thousands Have Returned… But Many Still Wait
As of now, the Department of Migrant Workers reports that 2,099 OFWs and their dependents have already made it back home.
But for those still waiting…
Every hour feels longer.
Every step closer to that flight feels heavier—and more emotional.
Because going home isn’t just about distance.
It’s about safety.
It’s about relief.
It’s about finally being with the people who matter most.
And for these 179 OFWs in Riyadh…
Home is just one flight away.
