Tragedy on Broad Peak: A Call for Hope Amidst Heartbreak
Kathmandu, July 31 — The thrill of adventure turned into tragedy on Broad Peak, one of the world’s most daunting mountains. At least 10 climbers have gone missing following a devastating avalanche, including the iconic Nirmal Purja, a name synonymous with mountaineering excellence.
The news hit hard. The group, which included climbers from Nepal, Pakistan, Oman, the U.S., and China, was reportedly swept away by the avalanche while navigating the challenging terrain of the 8,051-meter (26,414-foot) peak. Chhang Dawa Sherpa, a respected board director at the trekking company Seven Summit Treks, confirmed that some of the missing climbers are indeed their sherpa guides.
